Backthird is a membership studio. That means a small group of musicians and recording engineers share our facility and equipment. We reap the benefits of working in creative community, while maintaining our independence as artists and businesspeople. And we get a studio quality most of us simply couldn’t afford on our own. Think of it as coworking – for people who make music.

A place to record
Backthird’s producers and engineers can make your next project sound amazing. Doing a quick demo or an audition piece? A single visit is all it takes to record a CD or mp3. Doing a single, an EP or a full album? We’ll create a custom plan to finish your whole project at a fixed budget. The membership model means you have a variety of producers to pick from – so we can make a production plan for almost any recording budget.
Backthird Audio is a Chicago-area recording studio that serves musicians, bands and recording engineers in Aurora, Illinois, and the Chicago suburbs, including Naperville, Oswego, Dekalb, Wheaton, Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles. We provide recording studio memberships to Chicago-area producers and engineers, and offer recording, mixing and mastering services to Chicago-area bands and solo artists.
