DJ Mike Menefee
“I played the trumpet and French horn back in middle school – but it was the studio that really hooked me,” Mike says. He now works as a recording engineer and studio producer when he’s not DJing. “By high school, I’d started producing my own hip-hop tracks. And I still am to this day!”
Mike’s experience collaborating with artists and creating strong studio mixes means he’s got a solid instinct for what makes a set of songs work technically. But it’s the human side that keeps him going as a DJ.
“I love filling dance floors, bringing smiles to faces,” Mike says. “My favorite part of every event is putting together a setlist that’s going to create the right atmosphere. And seeing guests’ reactions when that song they love comes on? There’s just no better motivation!”
As a hip-hop producer, Mike’s a natural fit for clients looking for an emphasis on club and hip-hop music. But he has a real soft spot for 90s throwbacks, Motown hits and classic funk jams, too.
“Those throwbacks have such feel-good vibes,” he says. “And they’re the types of tunes all ages can get down to.”
